TED NUGENT Attends PRESIDENT OBAMA's State Of The Union Address
February 12, 2013Legendary rocker Ted Nugent, who is an avid supporter of gun rights and antagonist of President Barack Obama, was in the House Chamber earlier tonight (Tuesday, February 12) when Obama delivered his State Of The Union address. Nugent attended the event as a guest of Steve Stockman, a Republican congressman from Texas who has previously talked of impeaching Obama over his gun control proposals.
"I am excited to have a patriot like Ted Nugent joining me in the House Chamber to hear from President Obama," Stockman said in a press release. "After the Address, I'm sure Ted will have plenty to say."
"We know that the President will have the State Of The Union stacked and jammed with props, children and victims of violent crime," Nugent told the Phoenix radio station KFYI late Monday. "And my friends wanted me to attend to counter that the way that I do: with facts, statistics and common sense and logic and a celebration of self-evident truths. So I will be taking on the media orgy following the State Of The Union address."
Nugent told The New York Times he wouldn't be packing heat on Capitol Hill. "I've got to demilitarize before I go" — and while he told KFYI he wouldn't tone down his language, he said he would "remain respectful to the office of the presidency and the event itself."
Nugent was investigated by the Secret Service in April 2012 after saying that he would be "dead or in jail by this time next year" if Obama was re-elected.
While attending the National Rifle Association convention last year, Nugent, who had endorsed Mitt Romney in the general election, said, among other things, "If you don't know that our government is wiping its ass with the constitution, you're living under a rock. . . I'll tell you this right now: if Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year. . . Our president, and attorney general, our vice president, Hillary Clinton — they're criminals. We're Americans because we defied the king. . . We are patriots, we are bravehearts. We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Any questions?"
